It's a great use of our Wharf!

We have done some work in Partnership with Allelys transporting cargo using the Wharf at Dunball.

Last year we used the Wharf to crane out a 174 tonne transformer for National Grid. Next year we are partnering up to do a very similar project.

Again, this will be in conjunction with our Partners to transport another 174 tonne transformer for National Grid in support of Hinckley Point C.

The transformer is manufactured in Asia and then travels mostly by water to arrive at Dunball Wharf for onward transportation by road to it's final destination. There is a requirement to transport cargo over a certain weight (120 tonnes) via water where it is practical and financially viable to do so. National Highways, the Police and other contractors are all involved in this process. We will lift the cargo out on a high tide to help balance out the weights being lifted and the physics of crane lifting.

It's a great use of our Wharf!
