A year for remembering the importance of recycling

A year for remembering the importance of recycling

At Wessex Recycling we wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of our customers and suppliers for bearing with us through this difficult year.

This year more than ever plastics have remained firmly in the headlines, whether it's microplastics, food waste polymers or recycling sustainability. The early lockdown had many of the Council owned Tips closed and families suddenly realising just how much waste they generated; easy to see as it piled up in the garden!

The advent of disposable masks made us realise that in saving ourselves we were potentially damaging our planet; hard to come to terms with for anyone at this unprecedented time. PPE, mostly made of plastics, is single use only and being thrown away after every use - AND we had to generate more and more of these vital garments as the pandemic numbers rose. Sadly, PPE is not recyclable but it has raised public awareness and brought a new social conscience to recycling, or at least helping to highlight the importance.

Going forward Wessex remain committed and able to contribute significantly to the plastic recycling sector, whilst protecting our environment and we will continue to do so, continually keeping an eye developments where our recycling efforts can help our planet going forward.
